Communicate your ideas with WALLWISHER

Hye all,

In this post I would like to introduce you with online notice board!Sounds cool, right? It is a notice board- like the one we stick notes on it. The different is: we do it online. It is very useful and simple to use in the classroom, so why not we give it a try.:-)

Online notice board

Let's check the website together!

WHAT IS IT?

It is an online notice board where people can stick their ideas, photos and videos. It works just like the notice board where you can stick notes on it. It can be used to make announcements, brainstorm ideas and many more. It is very useful as it can connect people from all around the world in a single notice board!

WHO CAN USE IT?

This tool is suitable for students who are :
  • aged 13 years old and above
Note: It is very important that all the computers in the room are connected with internet so that all the students can stay connected and can stick their notes on the Wallwisher.

HOW TO USE IT IN TEACHING ENGLISH
  • Brainstorming
The teacher can create a wall to brainstorm ideas from students about a topic for an essay. The teacher can write the topic that they want to discuss on the wall tittle and ask students to stick their ideas on the wall. Then, the teacher might want to look at the ideas and identify the which ideas are suitable to be put into the essay.
  • Speaking activity
Using Wallwisher, students can also practice speaking. Teacher can do Agony aunt and uncle activity (This is an activity where students give advice to problems). Teacher can ask each student to write a problem and post it on the wall. Then, put students in group and ask them to discuss the best advice to give for the problems they had selected. Discuss in class.
  • Vocabulary game
Teacher can write a word in the wall title and ask student to guess the meaning. Students need to stick the meaning on the wall and then teacher will give the correct answer. The student who can guess the most words win. (Teacher can prepare a present for the winner to make the activity more interesting)

THEORY OF LEARNING USING THE TOOL
  • The tool is useful in creating a community for students to interact with. Interaction is very important in learning language as it allow the knowledge exchange. Social cultural theory highlights that via interaction, the knowledge is being construct.
